What is Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)?
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an environmental policy approach where producers are given significant responsibility for the treatment or disposal of post-consumer products. This includes both financial and physical responsibility for the products they manufacture or import.
EPR for End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV):
For vehicles, EPR means that producers (manufacturers and importers) are responsible for the environmentally sound management of vehicles at the end of their life. This includes:
- Ensuring proper recycling and disposal
- Meeting recycling and recovery targets
- Managing hazardous materials
- Compliance with environmental regulations
